Video Gone Viral: African schoolgirls expelled after kicking & beating younger student

Cruel South African schoolgirls filmed throwing a younger pupil to the ground and kicking and slapping her have been expelled after the leaked footage went viral.

The girls, aged 14 and 15, attacked the 12-year-old at Vukuzakhe High School in the town of Umlazi in eastern South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal Province.

A third girl involved in the assault has also been expelled.The incident initially went unreported.

The video, which is more than two minutes long, shows the bullies viciously pushing and slapping their young victim while confronting her about a rumour she allegedly spread about one of the attackers. None of the girls have been named.

Education spokesman Muzi Mahlambi said the incident happened in September last year, but it was never reported.

He condemned the incident, calling it 'bad' and a 'disappointment', adding: 'What the video displays about the bullying is shocking enough. 

'We can't imagine what the victim went through that went unrecorded.'

According to the South African website IOL News, Isaac Luthuli, spokesman for Peggy Nkonyeni, KwaZulu-Natal Education Member of the Executive Council, confirmed today the school governing body had decided to expel the three girls involved.

The victim is being monitored and is said to be responding well to trauma counselling.

In September, IOL news reported that criminal charges had been lodged against pupils who attacked two teachers at the school, causing severe injuries.

Students are said to have gone on a rampage, attacking teachers and stoning their cars.
