#HurricaneHarvey: Sandra Bullock donates $1 million to Houston flood relief

Actress Sandra Bullock has joined a long list of celebrities, athletes and business leaders pledging to help Houston recover from the devastating floods caused by Tropical Storm Harvey.
The "Blind Side" star announced on Tuesday that she would donate $1 million to the Red Cross' relief efforts.
"There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water," the actress said, according to People Magazine
The outpouring of support for Houston has been immense, with comedian Kevin Hart leading an effort to get other stars to donate.
Closer to home, Houston Texans star JJ Watt set out to raise $200,00o, a goal was quickly eclipsed and steadily raised. At around 7 p.m. Tuesday he had upped the goal to $5 million and by 11:15  p.m., he had raised nearly $4.9 million.
Harvey, which initially battered the Texas coast as a Category 4 hurricane, has become one of the most devastating storms in American history, dumping nearly 50 inches of rain in some parts of South Texas and causing widespread flooding throughout Houston.
On Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center posted the following:
"A preliminary report from one Texas rain gauge has broken the Texas tropical cyclone rainfall record. Southeast of Houston, Mary's Creek at Winding Road reported 49.32 inches as of 9 am CDT. This total is higher than the previous record of 48 inches set during tropical cyclone Amelia of 1978 at Medina, Texas."
