Qatar has captured their third Gulf Cup trophy after beating tournament hosts Saudi Arabia by coming from behind to win the final.
Qatar beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 to win Gulf Cup: Qatar clinch their third Gulf Cup title after coming from behind to beat hosts Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
Playing in front of capacity crowd at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saud Kariri opened the scoring for the Saudi team after 16 minutes, before Qatar replied with a magnificent header from defender Al Mahdi Ali two minutes later.Khoukhi Boualem scored the winner in the 58th minute to hand Qatar their first Gulf title away from home.Qatar, who won the Gulf Cup in 1992 and 2004, hit form with a 3-1 win in the semi-finals against Oman despite making a slow start to the tournament.The UAE beat Oman 1-0 to claim bronze in the play-off for third and fourth place at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium on Tuesday night.
