News: Hope Oprah Winfrey ain't broke, sells Harpo Studios

It's the end of an era for Oprah Winfrey, who has entered a deal to sell her Chicago-based Harpo Studios to an area developer.
For more than two decades, the 3.5-acre Harpo Studios campus was home to The Oprah Winfrey Show, which filmed there from 1990 until Oprah ended the show in 2011 in order to launch her OWN network. The facility is still used to produce programming for OWN, and the terms of the deal will see Harpo continuing to use the facilities for the next two years.
"We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios campus in Chicago's West Loop," Oprah told Crain's Chicago Business in a statement. "We expect the transaction to be closed in 30 days. The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN."
Oprah will reportedly pocket $32 million from the transaction.
