News: Lagos Assembly Announces N1.25m Reward For Information About The Ejigbo Pepper Women Assault Perpetrators

The Lagos State House of Assembly, yesterday, announced a N1.25 million reward anyone for information thT will unravel the perpetrators of the brutalisation of two women in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, last year.
According to the Chairman of the five-man ad hoc committee investigating the matter, Mr. Ajibayo Adeyeye:
“Anybody that gives information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators of the heinous act shall be given N1 million. And I will add the sum of 250,000 from my private account to increase the sum to N1.25million.”
During the deliberation, the video clip of the incident which ran for about eight minutes was played, showing how the two women were tortured by the perpetrators.
The video clip moved the participants at the meeting to tears.
The President of Women Arise Initiative, Dr. Joe  Odumakin, who had previously led a protest to the House on the matter, explained that she saw the video for the first time on December 7, 2013, noting that the greatest gift anyone could give the women was to get justice for them.

News: Glo/CAF Awards: John Mikel Obi to fly to Lagos in Chelsea jet

The Glo/CAF African Player of the Year Award 2014 will hold tomorrow Thursday January 9th at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos Nigeria and one of the nominees, Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, will be specially flown into Lagos for the ceremony in a jet provided by his club, Chelsea.

“I am coming for the CAF awards, I will be flown in and out of Nigeria by the Chelsea jet. I will arrive on the awards day and return immediately after,” Mikel told MTNFootball.com “It is an honour to be selected and nominated for the award. I am looking forward to winning it for my country.” He also said.

Mikel is up against Cote d'Ivoire and Man City player Yaya Toure and Cote d'Ivoire and Galatasaray player, Didier Drogba. Yaya Toure won it last year and this year, the winner is.....???

News: Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Is Considering Running For President In 2015

While trying to deny a Daily Sun Newspaper report that he was in the APC Vice Presidential race, Governor Rochas, in a press release, instead made public that he was considering running for President come 2015.

According to the press release:

Against the backdrop of SunNews' report, the Imo State government wishes to put the record straight with regard to the ambition of the Imo State Governor in 2015.  

And to also correct the impression that the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is in the race for the Vice-Presidential slot of the APC, as the Daily Sun caption had suggested.  

The truth of the matter is that Governor Okorocha is not in the VP race in APC.  

There has been unprecedented pressure on the governor by Nigerians from all walks of life to vie for the Presidency and he has been consulting on that.  

His consultations have not been on the VP slot but on the presidency and at the end of the consultations, he would decide whether to throw his hat into the ring for the presidential race or not.

The pressure is also on the Imo governor by well meaning citizens of Imo State, including the artisans, farmers, traders, students, etal in the state to ensure the completion of the transformation he has begun in the state by seeking re-election in 2015.  

And the governor is also yet to decide on that. 

However, it is also good that the stakeholders said to have met according to the Daily Sun story where the name of the governor was mentioned for the VP race must have seen the qualities in him and what his administration has been doing in Imo that made them to consider him for the VP position.  

While we appreciate that, the fact remains that Governor Okorocha is not in the race for VP for 2015. However, everything depends on God who gives power.

News: A man's surprise for girlfriend goes really wrong...

A naked Australian man was left red-faced after getting stuck in a washing machine during a game of hide and seek, after police had to grease him up with olive oil to get him out.

The man clambered into the top-loader machine on Saturday afternoon in his unit north of Melbourne, aiming to surprise his girlfriend when she got home.

But he became wedged, sparking a delicate rescue effort.

"He was trying to surprise his missus and became stuck," Sergeant Tim Gleeson told the Herald Sun after police, firefighters, paramedics, and a local search and rescue squad used olive oil to manoeuvre the man out of his predicament.

"They greased him up until he was free," Sgt Gleeson added.

"It was just a game gone wrong. It would be fair to say the gentleman was very embarrassed," added Sergeant Michelle De Araugo.

News: ‘Flasher’ claims trousers fell down while he was jogging

The 26-year-old Indian defendant denied a charge of public indecency after a Canadian woman claimed he showed her his private parts while she was walking in Garhoud.
The 55-year-old Canadian said: “An Asian man came towards me and showed me his manhood. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was shocked – I slapped him on the face and tried to call the police.”
The defendant tried to escape, but the woman gave chase. A British man who was in the area saw them and caught up with the defendant, then detained him until police arrived.
The defendant claimed during investigations that it was an accident that his trousers fell down.
“I was running when my trousers slipped. The woman was in front of me. She insulted me and then slapped me on the face,” the defendant said.
The British witness said that the defendant had been wearing flip-flops, so would not have been out running.

The trial has been adjourned until later this month to hear the alleged victim’s testimony.

News: No decision on Qatar 2022 World Cup yet- FIFA

FIFA played down claims from its secretary-general that the 2022 World Cup to take place in Qatar will not be held in the summer.

The announcement by Jerome Valcke in an interview to France Inter Radio on Wednesday caught some of his own colleagues by surprise.
The tournament's scheduling has been debated since the controversial decision in 2010 to award the World Cup to the Gulf Arab state.
Temperatures in Qatar can reach up to 50 C in June and July - the traditional times the event is played.
"Frankly, I think it will happen between the 15th of November and the end of December because that is when the weather is more favourable. It’s more like springtime in Europe," Valcke said.

In response, Jim Boyce, FIFA vice-president, told Sky Sports News he was "shocked" and "surprised" by Valcke's comments, saying that a decision was yet to be made by the FIFA executive committee.
"It absolutely has not been decided as far as the executive committee are concerned," Boyce said.
"It was agreed all the stakeholders should meet, all the stakeholders should have an input and then the decision would be made, and that decision as far as I understand will not be taken until the end of 2014 or the March executive meeting in 2015.

"As it stands it remains in the summer with no decision expected until end of 2014 or March 2015."
In October, FIFA delayed making a decision on whether to play the tournament in the winter, saying it was setting up a consultation process to decide when the finals should be held.
At the time, it announced it would reach a conclusion some time after this year's World Cup in Brazil.
Qatar was originally awarded the tournament ahead of the US, South Korea, Japan and Australia. Its bid was based on a summer World Cup, despite the searing temperatures.
Qatar has argued all along that it will build air-conditioned stadiums using environmentally sustainable technology. However, there have been concerns for visiting fans and about training facilities for teams

News: Chris Brown rejects plea deal in D.C. assault case

The new year is bringing in new court appearances for Chris Brown.
The embattled singer was allowed to temporarily leave rehab Wed. Jan.08 so he could fly across the country to Washington D.C. for a court appearance.
Dressed in a smart three-piece suit, the 24-year-old arrived at court for a status hearing in his misdemeanor assault case. He was arrested on October 27 for punching a fan in the face outside a D.C. hotel. At the time of that incident he was still on probation for the 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Chris and his attorney Mark Geragos rejected a plea deal to a simple assault charge. They apparently believe there may be video that exists of the incident and do not want to make any deals until it can be reviewed.

So this dad, 39 years old Doyin Richards who currently lives in Los Angeles and is on paternity leave, posted this sweet picture of himself cradling his 6 months old baby girl in an Ergo while brushing his 2 years old daughter's hair on Twitter and Facebook. 

 

According to Doyin , one morning, his wife was running late for work and was worried that she wouldn't be able to get their daughter's hair done before she went to school that day.

He told her that she could leave, that he would handle it.

 

His wife countered by saying that doing their daughter's hair requires attention and the baby would get upset if he left her alone while he played the role of stylist.

Again, he told her that he'd handle it.

 

On the way out she said, 'I'll believe it when I see it.'"

 

So while she was gone, Doyin placed his infant into her carrier and "worked his hair magic" on their older daughter.

He also set up his camera, enabled its 10-second timer, and snapped a photo to prove to his wife that he could handle the job.

 

 

Excitedly, he later shares the pictures on Twitter, Facebook and in a matter of hours, the photo went viral, quickly amassing nearly 5,000 shares, 3,000 comments, and 190,000 likes, along with a totally unexpected slew of mean-spirited remarks, racist comments.

 

Some commenters took issue with the color of his skin, making cruel assumptions about his lifestyle. That being a doting father as an African American man shows weakness.

Some of the nasty comments:

Cute picture. Now why don't you hand the children back to their mom so you can go back to selling drugs or your bootleg rap CDs?

 However, Doyin also lashed back at his haters, saying:

Memo to the small pocket of male haters I have: It's not a good look to tear down dads for doing the work your wives wished you were man enough to do on your own. If you don't believe me, just ask your spouses. They'll tell you."

Prince William was all smiles as he arrived at Cambridge University to start his ten-week course in agricultural management yesterday Tue.Jan 07.
The Duke of Cambridge, 31, didn't let the wind and rain dampen his spirit as he toured St John's College where some of his studies will take place.
Dressed in a navy suit and maroon tie, William looked dapper as he chatted away to the university's senior figures. The group strolled around the grounds, with the second-in-line to the throne stopping to admire a plaque commemorating his grandmother the Queen's visit to the college in April 2011.
Ahead of the start of the course, Kensington Palace confirmed William's attendance and said that the prince was "very much looking forward" to his studies.

The course, which has been specifically tailored for the prince, will no doubt put him in good stead for his future role of running the Duchy of Cornwall — a portfolio of land, property and investments he will inherit from his father Prince Charles.
William will have roughly 20 hours per week of seminars and tutorials, where he will work alongside a select few PhD students. The father-of-one is expected to learn about the issues facing the UK's rural communities and the farming industry. In September of last year, William completed a three-year tour as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge then relocated from Anglesey to London, where they recently moved in to their 21-room house with baby Prince George.
While William will focus on his studies and live part time in Cambridge, he will travel occasionally to London to keep up his royal duties over the coming months.

 

News: Naomi Oni Arranged For Acid To Be Poured On Her To Achieve Fame & Fortune - Mary Konye

Victoria's Secret lingerie store worker was today forced to deny throwing acid in her own face to gain fame and fortune by her friend Mary Konye.
Naomi Oni, 21, was accused of setting up the ATTACK and asking friend Mary Konye, also 21, to 'play the stalker' and throw the corrosive liquid over her.
The prosecution claim Konye donned a full niqab before following Oni as she made her way home, only to douse in sulphuric acid which has left her disfigured for life.
But the defence say it was part of an elaborate plan to become rich and famous.
That Naomi hatched a plan with Konye to pour acid over herself to improve her future prospects.
According to the Defence:

'You, Naomi formalised a plan in which you would become the victim of a random acid attack in the hope that you would receive the same type of fame and fortune as Katy Piper had.
You were of the view that Katy Piper still looked lovely after the attack but that you would need something else to support the attack because the police wouldn't believe you and that was where you brought Mary Konye into it. 

'Your play was, I suggest, that you would make an allegation that you had been followed and attacked and you wanted Mary Konye to be part of that - you wanted her to follow you and also, initially, wanted her to throw the acid.
She absolutely refused to do that and you said that you were actually going to throw the acid yourself towards your neck area.'

Miss Oni replied: 'That is very untrue.'

Miss Oni described how she was oblivious to her attacker as she walked home from work, but suddenly felt a big splash on her face and ran home screaming 'acid, acid'.

Miss Oni admitted deleting her internet search history on her mobile phone a day before police were due to come and collect it.
She said she felt 'violated' and didn't want the police going through her personal data so she decided to delete the history on her iPhone.
Naomi Oni also admitted being paid £2,000 by The Sun newspaper for an interview as well as appearing on ITVs This Morning programme and being paid a sum of £1,000.
She also appeared on a German television programme and was paid around £1200 as well as being approached by the BBC for her story.
Describing how she felt after the attack,  Naomi said:

"Am I a bad person? Why has this happened to me? I work hard ... No one’s going to marry me now."

The court heard that she and Konye had a ‘rocky relationship’ and had stopped speaking from April to September 2011 after a row over Konye sending text messages to Miss Oni’s boyfriend.
Miss Oni said:

"I remember asking her why she wanted to do that and I said she’s a monster or something like that.
 'I said you are a monster, you are  an ugly monster. I remember us insulting each other’s looks.
 'She also told me she was so angry she wanted to throw acid at me, but she was advised not  to by her friend. Her friend said, “That’s stupid, you could go to jail for that”.’ 

Asked what she thought at the time about the threat, Miss Oni said:

‘I thought  it was quite bizarre, I felt insulted again. 'But she seemed like she wasn’t serious. I thought she was trying to frighten me a little bit.’ 

She also said that Katie Piper – the model who had acid thrown in her face by an accomplice of her ex-boyfriend – was her inspiration, adding:

I remember being deeply moved by her story and me and Mary discussed it.’

Mary Konye posted a picture of horror film villain Freddy Krueger online and wrote, ‘She better not mess with me or I’ll make her face look like this’ before the attack, the court heard yesterday.
