The New York Police Department confirmed this morning, June 25, that Amofah has been found dead. The NYPD reported Amofah missing on June 20, with his last known appearance having been June 19. NYPD's tweet confirming Amofah's death:
Amofah began posting videos on YouTube in 2012, amassing a fandom known as JoyCon Boyz, given his coverage of Nintendo hardware and games. Amofah has previously caused concern among fans due to suicidal tweets posted in April, as reported by Newsweek. Amofah was shown to be physically fine at the time of those tweets by a friend. However, later alleged threats of self-harm caused Brooklyn, New York police to detain Amofah, as reported by Kotaku. Amofah livestreamed police detaining him at the time on his Instagram account. As noted by Kotaku, Amofah posted a video on YouTube last week, which was taken down, in which he allegedly said goodbye to fans. The NYPD told Kotaku that a body was found in the river around New York City on June 24. Amofah was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Owuraku Amofah, a Ghanaian politician.
