An immersive 360° experience of the futuristic city was released by the Gulf state's government, giving the most detailed view yet of its city. The release is part of Dubai's Mars 2117 Strategy, which seeks to build the first settlement on Mars in the next 100 years.

The release is part of Dubai's Mars 2117 Strategy, which seeks to build the first settlement on Mars in the next 100 years. During the seven minute long tour, you are transported from the exterior of the planet's surface to the inside of a number of large domed buildings
The scenes are set 70 years after mankind has set foot on Mars, meaning the UAE envisions the first landing taking place in the year 2047. This image shows what appears to be an industrial processing plant, involved with collecting and refining the various resources needed by the colony
The City of Wisdom, as humanity’s first settlement on Mars will be known, comes complete with laboratories, a University, skyscrapers, beautiful architecture and 600,000 inhabitants. This image shows a view of the city from a transport network high above it
The footage reveals a Hyperloop transport system in place at the colony, as well as all manner of robots, flying vehicles, crowds of people and vegetation. This image shows crowds of people exploring a plaza area
For the full immersive experience, users need to view the video using a VR headset, but the clip, uploaded to YouTube, still makes for impressive viewing even without this. This image shows the interior of the domed city
The city is part of a 100-year plan which will see the first UAE astronauts slip the surly bonds of Earth, as part of a burgeoning new space industry. This image shows a food court in the city
In 2020, the first interplanterary misison by a Muslim country, an unmanned UAE probe, is due to blast off. The vehicle is due to go enter orbit around the Red Planet in 2021, just in time for the 50th anniversary of the country's founding. This image shows vegetation in the city
Plans for the Martian city were first announced by the UAE in February 2017, at the World Government Summit in the presence of representatives of 138 governments.
