A Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen franchise owner is defending his employees who brawled with four female customers after they assaulted the fast food restaurant’s manager who is seven months pregnant.
According to KSAT, store owner Vedo Kemraj said his unidentified general manager was shoved to the ground and kicked in the stomach, leading his other employees to jump to her defense.
“If you see someone is pregnant, you’re not going to hit them. I don’t get that. Hopefully, she is going to be OK,” Kemraj said, explaining that the fight began because the group of women — described at Texas State University students — were asked to come inside the restaurant instead on using the drive-thru for their four separate orders.
Once inside, the women began arguing with the general manager which descended into a physical altercation.
“When the customers came inside, they started arguing with my general manager and went to the back of the counter and started fighting,” Kemraj said adding that his manager told them repeatedly that she was pregnant as they continued to attack her.
According to the San Marcos Police Department, officers arrived and found “mutual combat between employees and unidentified females who left before officers arrival.”
“The people on scene did not want to press any charges (and) EMS was called to the scene but did not transport anyone,” the police report states.
The store GM was eventually taken to a local hospital and stayed overnight to monitor her baby.
Texas State University is investigating whether the four young women are students.
