A 27-year-old sous-chef at a restaurant in Al Mamzar's Century Mall has been sentenced to life in prison following the stabbing of his colleague to death for talking to the chef's wife on the phone.
Last year, the 27-year-old Pakistani was busy making tea at work in the afternoon when he realised his colleague was on the phone. As soon as he, reportedly, found that it was his wife on the phone, he grabbed a knife and stabbed his colleague repeatedly.

Another chef witnessed the entire thing and said that the two never had arguments prior to this occasion

A 48-year-old Pakistani man who is also a chef told The National that the two were always fine and barely had arguments, however when the chef heard his name more than three times in the duration of the call, "he realised his wife was on the other line, picked up a knife, grabbed his shirt and stabbed him in the neck."

The chef denied charged of premeditated murder last March

When the 27-year-old chef showed up at Dubai Criminal Court in March, he denied all charges of accusations, and claimed it was defense after having beed attacked with a spoon.
He was still sentenced to life imprisonment in Dubai, which will lead to a deportation as a standard life sentence in the UAE is 25 years in jail.
