You can do a lot of things on twitter but making a fake terrorist threat, is not one of them.
A Dutch teen was arrested yesterday morning, Mon April 14 after tweeting threats to American Airlines. Sarah, the 14-year-old tweeted a threat to the airline as a joke yesterday, Sunday April 14 2014.
After realizing that the Airline was serious about contacting the FBI, the teen suffered feelings of fear and joy.
We’re not in a state that we can communicate any state of charges at this point, we just thought it was necessary to bring this out mostly because of the fact that it caused a great deal of interest on the Internet.
The saga continued overnight when Sarah tweeted a lengthy message claiming she wrote the tweet as a joke a month ago, but didn’t send it because it "wasn’t a good idea."
However, she says her Twitter "tripped" and sent the draft of the earlier tweet without her knowledge.
The interaction began when American Airlines replied to her threat by saying: "Sarah, we take these threats very seriously. Your IP address and details will be forwarded to security and the FBI."
Sarah then wrote: "I am f*****g 14 years old. Do they think I am gonna blow up a plane or something? I am just stupid, okay."
Clearly worried, she added: "OMG. Someone is knocking on the door. Maybe it is the FBI. OMG."
"I need a lawyer. Any lawyers on here?" she added later.
Some Twitter users had little sympathy for her panic.
"She's going down" one wrote.
"I hope you go to jail," added another.
However, other users were a bit more generous.
Joshua Ross said: "Sometimes young people do immature stuff."
Moral of the story? Never tweet about threatening innocent people, even if it just for fun.
What do you guys think? Do you think Sarah was just fooling around or she meant what she tweeted?
