The Nigerian authorities have ordered an immediate evacuation of the National Assembly just a day after a massive car bomb killed at least 71 people and wounded 124 more at a car station near the capital, Abuja. Security agents asked lawmakers and other staffs to leave the sprawling complex in central Abuja after reports that an explosive material had been planted in the building. The claims were not immediately confirmed.
The National Assembly is located within the Three Arms Zone, Nigeria’s most fortified district, which lies a short distance from Nyanya, the scene of Monday’s bombing.
