Videos: Lupita Nyong'o may play "Ifemelu" in Chimamanda Adichie's movie, Americanah

In an interview with Lola Ogunnaike on Arise Entertainment 360 Chimamanda Adichie speaks on gender equality, Beyoncé‘s “Flawless”, feminism, and Half of a Yellow Sun adaptation. Chimamanda also hints that another of her books, the popular and latest Americanah will probably also be turned into a movie with non other than heat of the moment Kenyan born actress Lupita Nyong’o as the star character, Ifemelu.
Americanah is Adichie’s 2013 novel that tells the story of “a young Nigerian woman who emigrates to America for a university education.” The novel recently just won a National Book Circle Critics Award.
We can definitely see that playing out well with Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave actress, Lupita. She already has the short hair going for her but Ifemelu is described as a plus sized girl. Will Lupita have to add a few pounds for the role? We have so many questions and so much hope!
