“Newspapers need to be careful before putting job adverts for domestic workers such as nannies, maids, drivers and private tutors in their publications.
Publications need to first verify the identities of these people and confirm they are staying legally in the country before they advertise their services.” said the secretary general of the office of the UAE Minister of Interior and chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection.
This is because there have been many reports from families about their children being abused by domestic workers or private tutors whom they hired through classified adverts many of who are run-aways, ex-convicts or deportees who later sneak back into the country.
