African gang caught scamming an Emirati man in Dubai with the promise of doubling his money

Dubai Police have responded to a viral video featuring suitcases of ‘cash’.

Dubai Police shared an Instagram post confirming an African gang lured an Emirati man with the promise of making him more money. The gang showed him piles of dollars which happen to be all FAKE!
Fortunately, the Emirati man soon realised the scam and reported the matter to Dubai Police, who reacted immediately. The video of the man inspecting the suitcases full of dollars went viral and Dubai Police are now reminding residents to report any suspicious activity immediately.

. كشف حقيقة فيديو صناديق الدولارات . بالإشارة إلى الفيديو المتداول على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي حول صناديق الدولارات، أوضح العقيد فيصل عيسى القاسم مدير إدارة الإعلام الأمني في شرطة دبي، بأن عصابة أفريقية حاولت الاحتيال على الشخص الموجود في الفيديو، عبر التعرف عليهم عن طريق وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي وثم تواصل معهم و إغرائه بقدرتهم على مضاعفة أمواله، مستدرجين إياه إلى شقة تحوي صناديق الدولارات المزورة، ثم قاموا بتصويره في محاولة لابتزازه ودفعه إلى إعطائهم مبالغ مالية، عندها سارع لإبلاغ الإدارة العامة للتحريات والمباحث الجنائية التي اتخذت بدورها الاجراءات اللازمة للقبض عليهم. وقال العقيد القاسم إن الشخص كاد أن يقع ضحية للعصابة لولا وعيه وسرعة تبليغه للإدارة العامة للتحريات والمباحث الجنائية التي سارعت بدورها في كشف الحقيقة ، ويهيب العقيد القاسم بأفراد الجمهور بأخذ الحيطة والحذر من التواصل الغرباء والاعلانات الوهمية في التواصل الاجتماعي وعدم تصديقهم، والإبلاغ عنهم عبر منصة ecrime.ae للبلاغات الإلكترونية أو الخدمة الذكية "عين الشرطة" عبر تطبيق شرطة دبي او الاتصال بالرقم ٩٩٩ أو بالرقم ٩٠١ . In connection to the viral video circulated on social media showing boxes filled with piles of dollars,Colonel Faisal AlQasim, Director of Dubai Police Security Media, said the video was secretly taken by an african gang who used the clip to blackmail the man in the footage after he had refused to give in for their claims. Colonel AlQasim said the scammers tried to deceive the man, whom the gang had lured through social media, promising him to double his money in no time while showing him boxes filled with counterfeit dollars . “The man who almost fell a prey to the gang, disbelieved their claims and reported the matter to Dubai Police who swiftly took necessary actions to arrest the suspects,” Col AlQasim added. The director of Dubai Police Security Media urged members of the public to stay alert against all scammers and online strangers, and to immediately report suspicious activities to Dubai Police through the force’s channels including the ecrime.ae platform , the emergency number 999 , Dubai Police Call centre 901, or through the (Police Eye) feature via Dubai Police App.
