In the years following his win on the adventure reality show, Gulder Ultimate Search in 2006, Hector Oluwaseun Joberteh had been living a quiet and peaceful life.

He got married in 2013 and shuttled between Nigeria and the US where his wife and daughter lived. He was full of life and excitement, only to brutally cut down in broad daylight.

Reports say he recently arrived back in the country to spend a few weeks. On Saturday morning, he went to the airport to pick a relative who also had just arrived.
Shortly after he got back home, two armed men forced their way into the building, harassed a few neighbours and shot Hector at close range once they saw him. His father also got shot but survived.
The assailants then escaped without stealing anything, leading friends and family to believe that this was an assassination.
Hector won the 2006 edition of Gulder Ultimate Search, winning a cash prize of N5 million and a Ford Explorer.
The Lagos state police command has confirmed the death of 2006 Gulder Ultimate search season 3 winner, Hector Joberteh.
In a telephone interview with LIB this morning, the public relations officer of the Lagos state police command, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the command got a report of the assassination of Hector at about 8am yesterday. He said the deceased was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctors.
"The incident was reported at about 8am. The deceased was rushed to the hospital but later died. Investigation is ongoing to trail those involved" he said.
