News: Julia Roberts’ Mother Dies Of Lung Cancer

Some sad news from Hollywood today with the passing of Julia Roberts' mom, Betty Lou Bredemus, 80. People reports the Oscar-winner’s mom had been suffering from lung cancer and died early Thursday morning.

Bredemus leaves behind three children, actor Eric Roberts, Lisa Gillan and Julia, as well as four grandchildren, including Eric’s actress daughter Emma Roberts. The loss of Julia and Eric’smother follows the death of their half-sister, Bredemus’ daughter Nancy Motes last year.

Julia has always spoken lovingly about her mother, who used to run an acting school in Georgia, telling People after she starred in “Mystic Pizza”: "The first time I felt famous was when I went to the movies with my mom."

The “Pretty Woman” star is currently filming "The Secret In Their Eyes", and was set to present at this weekend's Oscars, but there has been no confirmation on whether or not she will still be able to attend.
