Urhobo Students Protest Over Kidnapping of DELSU Lecturer, Mrs Enajite E. Ojaruega, give government 48 Hours Ultimatum.
The National Union of Urhobo Students (NUUS), Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka chapter has threatened to mobilise all Urhobo students in Nigerian Universities to march to Asaba over the abduction of their Matron, Mrs Onajite Ojaruega by unknown kidnapppers. Mrs Ojaruega, who is a lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, DELSU, Abraka, was abducted on Monday May 19, 2014 by unknown gunmen along Warri/Eku Road by Rejega Hotel, Eku on her way to work at about 8.30am.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in DELSU, Abraka, over the kidnap of NUUS Matron, the union’s president, HH Austine Omokpe says “we are giving the Delta State Government 48 hours ultimatum to use its security apparatus to set our Matron free without any ransom to the kidnappers, failure to which we will storm the Government House, Asaba to demand for action from the Government and we will not return until the needful is done”.
On the situation of insecurity on campus, Omokpe noted that “there is no way the lecturers will impact qualitative knowledge on the students in this environment when there are no protective security measures in place for their lives and families”. He therefore called on the Delta State
Government to provide adequate security for the staff and students of the University.
May she return safe & sound. Kindly contact the nearest police station if you have any information, thank you.
