Rita Moreno, who is likely best known for her Oscar-winning role as Anita in the 1961 musical "West Side Story," presented Lopez with the Vanguard Award, which is given to individuals in the medial who have increased visibility and understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community through their work.
"I really want to thank GLAAD for the all of the important, daring, powerful work that you do - not only in mainstream media but in Spanish-language media too," Lopez said during her acceptance speech.
