News: Who has seen this missing Swiss tourist?

Police are searching for a Swiss tourist who went missing from his hotel room on Monday afternoon.

A police official from Bur Dubai Police Station told Gulf News the tourist was reported missing by his wife after he left his hotel room in Barsha at 3pm.

Mirela Pittet, the distraught wife of the missing man, told Gulf News that she came to Dubai with her husband and a group of other tourists but her trip has turned into a nightmare.

“My husband went missing and I cannot find him anywhere,” said Pittet.

“Me and my husband, Robert Louis Pittet aged 66, came to visit Dubai on January 19 and we stayed with the tourist group in the Grand Excelsior Hotel in Barsha.

“In the evening when I realised that my husband hadn’t come back I called the police and they came to the hotel and took details of what happened,” she said.

She said she has been to Bur Dubai Police Station twice and police officials told her they were following up on her husband’s disappearance.

“I was told by police that my husband will be considered missing 48 hours after his disappearance,” she said.

She said she has also told her consulate about her husband’s sudden disappearance.

She added they were due to leave Dubai on January 27.

Pittet said that her husband had no health problems.

“My husband sometimes forgets a lot of things but not to the point that he can’t find his way. The police said they will search for my husband everywhere,” she said.

She said she and her husband had one son back home.

“Our son is 16 years old and he did not come to Dubai with us because he has school right now,” she said.

“I’m helpless and desperate, I’m praying my husband is found safe and sound,” Pittet said.

She said the group was going to Abu Dhabi on Wednesday but she would stay in Dubai in case there was any news.

She is calling on readers who spot her husband to inform police or call her at her hotel.
