News & Photo: Top Nollywood actress caught stealing, beaten mercilessly

Nollywood actress Yetunde Akilapa has allegedly been caught stealing keys following her arrest last year when she was accused of the same crime.

In February 2013, it was reported that Yetunde was arrested and detained for allegedly stealing a set of master keys in Shomolu area of Lagos and was subsequently sent to Kirikiri Prison. She was, however, released in November 2013 after the case could not be substantiated.

She was caught allegedly stealing another set of keys this past week.

Sources say she was caught trying to burgle a house located at 16, Ibitoye Street, Magado, Lagos on Sunday, January 12, 2014.

It is reported she was arrested soon after suffering brutal beatings from residents in the area.

Meanwhile, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has disowned the actress clearly stating that she is not a registered member.

Akilapa, who up until until few days ago was a member of the Odunfa Caucus of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Practitioners (ANTP), has been banned from featuring in any movies.

Yakubu Mohammed, Secretary-General of the guild told Vanguard Newspapers: "As AGN, we screen all our members before registering them. So, we don't have any AGN member with a questionable character. We learnt that Yetunde has spiritual problem and she's not a thief. We are praying that God should deliver her."
