News: CONFUSION IN APC AS IT UNCOVERS GRAND PLAN BY PDP TO INFILTRATE AND DESTROY IT FROM WITHIN

The All Progressive Congress, APC had an emergency meeting yesterday in the private residence of Alhaji Ahmed Tinubu the party National leader. Though the real reasons for the panic meeting were not released to the press, but an inside source who wants to remain anonymous informed us that, a plan by PDP to incapacitate the party has been uncovered. On further prodding he admitted that most of the defections by the governors of PDP and some legislators are not genuine as it is part of a grand plan to render APC electorally powerless in the forth coming presidential elections.

When asked for further details and how APC is reacting to these revelations, our source said that the party is still holding the meeting but some of the legislators who newly defected to APC from PDP has confessed and admitted that they were engineered to do so by their party with the full knowledge and connivance of their respective state governors who knew that the defections were stage managed. The magnitude of this news is not one to be waived away without further investigation. in our bid to do due diligence and get to the root of this mind blowing revelation, our correspondence caught up with one of the governors of PDP who was a member of the G7 but did not decamp to APC.

When asked to confirm these allegations about PDP's plan to destabilize APC, he made to deny the story but changed his posture when confronted with some of the intelligence report we have at our disposal. He caved and admitted that they have to teach APC members how the game of politics is played. He said politics is not about making noise. It is about strategic planning which includes political espionage. From him we were able to arrive at some disturbing truth about PDP political style over the years:
Whenever the nation approaches a presidential election year, the PDP tend to implode within with fractionalization and so much intra-party animosities that Nigerians always expect them to lose the elections with the opposition developing complacency and resting on its oars, but curiously, these seemingly impossible to settle quarrels get settled on the eve of the elections with PDP coming out victorious and smiling at the political immaturity of the opposition.

The plan to make the quarrel real this time is said to be hatched by Chief Tony Anenih, Obasanjo and Bamanga Tukur who co-opted PDP most independently willed governors led by Aliyu Babangida and Sule Lamido into the game plan. Governor Amaechi's seeming bitterness and waywardness was all they needed to put their plan into perfection. This time it all started with the confusion initiated at the Governors forum election which rendered the forum incapacitated and created the bad blood between Amaechi and Jonathan. The resultant effect of the implosion in PDP heated up the polity within the PDP rank and the APC moved to gain from the crisis. Strange defections started. Defections that left political pundits awed and defied all logic. First, APC or its leadership cannot be said to have as much bargaining powers as the PDP who have the presidential will power and persuasion at its behest. There is no inducement APC can give to these defectors that the PDP cannot triple.

 There is also the question of highly incompatible elements coming together. APC were fooled to think that these men who have nothing to lose can swallow their pride and become subservient to their leadership for nothing. APC saw the warning signs when these defectors goofed by saying that they would want to consult with the president and PDP leadership first before they decamped. It became obvious to the most casual observer that these defectors continued to see themselves working for their party even when it is obvious that they were openly romancing with the opposition. What is the import of the defected governors having another crucial meeting with the president and the PDP leadership?

 It is rumored that, the meeting was to receive their final instructions packaged in a “for your eyes only" pink envelope style of instruction manual. They were instructed to be more hostile in their attack on the presidency and the PDP. So far if these assertions are true, then these governors and fellow defectors have not disappointed in hatching this plot. Obasanjo's letter is the master stroke. It was deviously planned with Sanusi's input. The letters were meant to get the reactions they did. Attracting the masses’ sentiments to the president and making the writers villains. It is also to show that the president is no longer a godson to OBJ. The nature of the letters even before they were exposed and discredited leaves many things unexplained. Letters from these quarters can never be meant for public consumptions. It was a very cheap tactics and APC once again fell cheaply for them.

With elections just by the corner, the calculation of the PDP is that there is no way the APC can get their act together before the general elections. But the meeting at Asiwaju Bola Tinubu house shows that the APC is poised to redouble its effort and use the PDP tactics against it.
