On Mon.Dec.23, the Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola's wife, Mrs Sherifat, described all first ladies in Nigeria as ‘executive prisoners' in an interview with journalists.
She said contrary to people's belief that first ladies were enjoying, governors’ wives really had no freedom to live the way they liked!
She said:
“All first ladies are executive prisoners. They are all here now (referring to security aides) and I can’t go to anywhere without them following me.
Who among the First Ladies is free? Who among First Ladies can go anywhere they like? All the First Ladies are executive prisoners. We can only dress like this and smile to the cameras but we are executive prisoners.”
Mrs. Aregbesola said that she and fellow First Ladies get involved in projects in order not to be useless throughout their stay at the various Government Houses.
Madam, it is your choice oh! No one is holding you from going anywhere you want or doing what you wish. Your counterparts like the one in Oyo State, relish the idea of having aides at their beck and call & their ego will not survive an aide-free day. So sock it up & carry on with your 'executive prisoner' duties.
