Photos: Michael Jackson's dad, Joe Jackson dies today

The father of multiple music legends including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and all of the members of the Jackson 5 died after recently being hospitalized with cancer.

Joe Jackson, the man who fathered Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 and deployed an iron will to turn his supremely gifted children into a culture-shifting music powerhouse, died early Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was 89. Tweets from his daughter and his grandsons confirmed his death. Randy Jackson Jr., the son of Randy Jackson, an original member of the Jackson 5, paid tribute. "RIP to the king that made everything possible!!! I love you grandpa," he posted.

Daughter La Toya Jackson, 62, also took to Twitter to mourn.

MJ's 9th death anniversary was on Monday, June 25.
And now the patriarch is no more.
