Photos: 22 y.o Venezuelan crowned transgender beauty queen in Thai contest

A 22-year-old Venezuelan was crowned "Miss International Queen" on Friday night at a beauty contest that bills itself as the world's largest and promotes the rights of transsexuals and transvestites.

Isabella Santiago beat 21 contestants from 18 countries to win the title and prize money of $12,500 (7,875.75 pounds) at a glittering pageant in the Thai resort town of Pattaya. The winner of the 2014 contest can also opt for free cosmetic surgery.
Santiago, who wore a shimmery white evening gown, laughed and said "Sleep!" when asked about her plans after the win.
"When on stage, she is so elegant and that's why the judges' decision was unanimous," said Seri Wongmontha, one of the pageant's judges.
The contest, in its tenth year, was held at the Tiffany's nightclub famous for its transvestite cabaret.
Like other beauty pageants, contestants for "Miss International Queen" paraded in their national costumes, evening gowns and swimsuits.
Miss USA Samira Sitara told Reuters TV that participating in the contest was a "dream come true", and this was the first time she was coming out publicly after being encouraged by friends.
"You know what, this is life and you can't run away from the past. I can't hide it anymore," she said.

Yesterday was #Walk2014 held in Abu Dhabi and today is #RunForTheFuture in Lagos.

ARM Pension Managers Limited, a leading Pension Fund Administrator (PFA) and a member of ARM Group targets the sound health of her contributors, retirees, and the general public in the organisation’s new fitness awareness campaign.

Tagged, “Run for the Future,” the event involved a 5km run/walk, aimed at creating awareness on the importance of exercise and living healthy. The run/walk happened this morning, Friday November 8, 2014.

Registration closed at 7.45 am and the walk itself kicked off at 8 am from Mekuwen, Ikoyi to the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge and back to Queens Drive, Ikoyi Lagos.

The event was quite successful with an impressive turn out, LASMA officials on ground to control the traffic, ambulances on stand by and a lot of give-away goodies such as bags, umbrellas, medals, fruit drinks, sandwiches etc for all the participants.

What a fantastic cause!!!

President Goodluck Jonathan led Ghanaian leader President John Dramani Mahama and Ivorian Head of State, Dr. Alassane Ouattara to open Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo yesterday, with Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, as chief host. The 30,000 – capacity venue, with a bullet –proof State Box that has 70 seats, has been described by the Vice President of Ghana Football Association, Mr. Fred Crentsil (who was sent by CAF to inspect the venue) as being “among the best you can find anywhere in the world.”
The event which kicked off with a lot of cultural displays, dance and the appearance of various artistes including Tiwa Savage, Kaycee among others. 
An international friendly warm-up game between Nigeria and Ghana U-23 Olympic team climaxed activities at the commissioning ceremony with Nigeria running away with a narrow one goal victory. They lifted the Transformation Cup for the victory.
I honestly like what Governor Akpabio has done-Less noise, more work, however, we must address the one issue that we have: Maintenance culture. 
We Nigerians lack this as we are fond of starting something so beautiful and......(you know the rest).
I pray this stadium remains like this, if not better, in 10 years time!

Photos From #Walk2014, Abu Dhabi On World's Diabetes Day

1 hour, 09 minutes and 43 seconds.
That was how long it took me to complete the #Walk2014 today in Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.
For those who are unaware, today Friday, November 2014 is World's Diabetes Day, meaning people all over the world had to Take A Step For Diabetes in order to support the cause.
I happily walked 3.29 miles and burned 358 calories (please bear in mind that the walk was brisk and I also had to stop to take photographs).
While walking this walk, something tragic happened.
My new Nikon camera fell and stopped working (which made me feel like crying), but luckily, I had my 2 phones fully charged, so I had to improvise.
Anyhow, the weather was perfect and the event was spot on.
Over 17,000 people participated in this walk: Men, women, boys, girls, young, old, arabs and non arabs, people from all walks-of-life.
#Walk2014 kicked off at 5 pm with a light warm-up from some gym instructors, then at 10 minutes past 5, the whistle was blown and the walk commenced.
It was indeed fun and memorable!
At the end of the walk, Tanura dancers from Egypt gave us a spectacular performance, DJ Lins provided some hot tunes and then a raffle was drawn that saw a young Filipino lad walking away with Aed10,000/$2,740 for taking the coolest photograph and hash-tagging Walk2014 on Instagram!
I participated in #Walk2013, #Walk2014 and God willing #Walk2015.
Anyhow I can give back to the society, I will: It doesn't always have to be financial.
At the end of the exercise, I felt so fulfilled and accomplished that one would have thought I ran and completed a full marathon, meanwhile, it was just some kilometers that I walked!!! LOL

This is indeed very sad and I am so heart broken!

I just got the news that Globacom's Executive Director (ED), Legal Services, Mrs Gladys Talabi lost her daughter, Damilola Akinkoye (nee Talabi) to death yesterday at St.Nicholas hospital, Lagos from complications arising from migraine.
Dami who got married not too long ago has a one year old daughter.

May God rest her soul and give her family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss- AMEN.

News: Facebook Adds Donation Button To Fight Ebola

Facebook is stepping up its efforts to fight Ebola by adding a button designed to make it easier for its users to donate to charities battling the disease.

The social media company is also donating and deploying 100 satellite communication terminals to boost Internet and phone services to affected areas in West Africa, where the disease has killed nearly 5,000. The programs come on the heels of a $25 million donation last month by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention toward the Ebola response.

Facebook Inc. says that, over the coming week, its users will see an option to donate to three nonprofits fighting Ebola. The groups are the International Medical Corps, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Save the Children. Facebook says it chose charities that work directly on the ground and are able to accept money globally.

News: JLo's ex-hubby, Marc Anthony engaged to Shannon De Lima, set to marry later this month

While Jennifer Lopez is settling into being single, her ex-husband Marc Anthony is giving marriage another go.

The 46-year-old singer is reportedly engaged to his on-again, off-again girlfriend Shannon de Lima, according to Us Weekly's source. Anthony started dating the model in 2012 and reportedly proposed to her all the way back in March.

According to the magazine's source, the couple are scheduled to say their "I dos" later this month in the Dominican Republic. Will J.Lo be in attendance? No word yet on if she received an invite, but she seems to be on good terms with her ex.

This will be Anthony's third marriage, and in turn, he'll also become a step-dad to De Lima's 7-year-old son Daniel.
