Sad News: Another Bomb Explosion Rocks Zuba Park, Nyanya Abuja, 70 People Dead

People gather close to the site of the explosion in Abuja, Nigeria - 1 May 2014
An apparent car bomb attack on Thursday killed at least 19 people and injured many more in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, police say.
The blast happened in Nyanya suburb, near a motor park where at least 70 people died in a blast on 14 April.
Witnesses said the explosion occurred close to a police checkpoint.
No group has claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack. The Islamist militant group Boko Haram said it was behind the fatal explosion last month.
The BBC's Will Ross in Abuja says Nyanya is a religiously mixed area and it is not clear why the area has been targeted.
Fears over security
Charles Osueke, who was in the area at the time of the blast, told the BBC that it was just 200m (650ft) away from the 14 April explosion.
"People in the crowd were saying that a man parked his car, walked away and the next thing they know, the car blew up," he said.
"I'm worried about our security here. After the last explosion the president said he would increase security," Mr Osueke added.
"There were policemen around when this explosion happened and they didn't manage to stop it."
The head of Nigeria's Emergency Management Agency, Abbas Idriss, told the BBC that 19 people were killed in the blast and 60 others were injured.

News: Whoops: Pharrell & his hat notch 10 weeks at #1 with "Happy"

Pharrell Williams Notches 10 Weeks at #1 with
Pharrell Williams has just entered double digits with his smash hit "Happy."
The Oscar-nominated song rules the Billboard Hot 100 for a tenth week, becoming the longest-running #1 hit since, well, another song that featured Pharrell: Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," which spent 12 weeks on top last year.Billboard notes that of the 1,034 songs which have topped the Hot 100 chart since its inception, only 28 songs have spent 10 weeks or more on top, and "Happy" is one of them.  But "Happy" is only the third #1 hit by a solo male artist to have spent that long on top.  The other two are Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997," which was #1 for 14 weeks, and Eminem's "Lose Yourself," which was #1 for 12.However, Pharrell's streak can't last forever. Billboard reports that based on radio airplay, John Legend's "All of Me," which has been patiently waiting at #2 for six weeks, may finally overtake "Happy" next week.

News: LOL: Lebanon in frenzy over George Clooney-Alamuddin engagement

Word that Beirut-born Amal Alamuddin has stolen the heart of Oscar-winning heartthrob George Clooney has caused a frenzy in Lebanon, where citizens are more used to bad news.
In Baakline, the leafy home district of Alamuddin's father in the Lebanese mountains, Ramzi Sabbagh could hardly contain his enthusiasm.
"She has made Lebanon and Baakline proud, given that she is originally from here," he told AFP.
Despite the excitement, few of Baakline's residents actually know Alamuddin, 36, whose family fled for Britain during Lebanon's 1975-1990 civil war.
Alamuddin, who was just three at the time, now holds British citizenship and is an attorney specialising in international law and human rights.
Soon after People Magazine broke the news of her engagement to Hollywood's most coveted bachelor, Lebanese internet users began expressing their delight.
"Clooney engaged to a Lebanese woman is proof that we're the best," one user wrote on Twitter.
"Only a Lebanese woman could make a husband out of Clooney," added another.
For others, the news was a chance to mock Lebanon's perennial political paralysis.
"Let's vote George Clooney president of Lebanon," wrote one wit, as the country's parliament wrangles over the choice of the next head of state.
A satirical site, in a nod to tensions between Israel and Lebanon, which technically remain at war, joked that Clooney's decision to wed an Arab had raised Israel's ire.
"Israel presses for military action against Clooney after he proposes to Lebanese girlfriend," it wrote.
- 'Cousin George' -
In tiny Lebanon where family ties are all-important, some Lebanese lost no time in referring to Clooney as "cousin George" -- a very popular name among the Christian community.
Tongue-in-cheek, many Internet users wondered if Clooney's impending nuptials might see him switch his allegiances from the Nespresso coffee brand he promotes to Lebanon's famed brew.
"Clooney ditches Nespresso to become face of Cafe Najjar," a satirical site wrote.
Another photo circulated showed Clooney under the slogan "Mate, what else?" in reference to the yerba mate beverage loved by the Druze community that Alamuddin's family hails from.
The Druze are a heterodox offshoot of Islam whose faith is largely secret. They make up around five percent of Lebanon, which has 18 official sects, and the community is gradually shrinking.

The engagement hasn't escaped the attention of the community's influential leader Walid Jumblatt, who joked to AFP that "maybe Clooney will make a movie about the Last of the Mohicans here: the Druze!"
Contacted by AFP, Alamuddin's parents declined to comment.
"We don't want as a family to comment on our children's private life," said her mother Baria, a well-known journalist for the pan-Arab daily Al-Hayat, based in London.
Alamuddin's father Ramzi taught tourism at the American University in Beirut, and her sister Tala currently lives in Singapore. She has two half-brothers from her father's first marriage.
A source close to Alamuddin's family said Clooney and the Lebanese beauty are "madly in love," adding that her family had met the actor in the United States and liked him.
The news that Clooney, almost as famed for his bachelor lifestyle as his acting, is to marry has caused an international media frenzy, with outlets clamouring for details of the lady who has "tamed" him.
The tall brunette, who is fluent in Arabic, French and English, studied at the French school in London and holds degrees from Oxford and New York University.
She worked with the international tribunal examining the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri and assisted ex-UN head Kofi Annan in efforts to make peace in Syria.
She also represented Ukraine's former president Yulia Tymochenko and the controversial founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange.
Beirut's Daily Star newspaper, quoting a source close to the couple said Clooney and Alamuddin are to wed in London in September.
But not everyone is enthused.
"It's difficult to accept that she's marrying a non-Druze," grumbled a young man in Baakline.
Another resident looked blankly when asked about the subject.
"George Clooney? Who's that?"
#Haha!

News: Korean businessman claims an African lady stole his Dhs200,000 in Abu Dhabi

A businessman claims a woman he met in a hotel bar in Abu Dhabi stole Dhs200,000/$55,000 in cash from him – but admits he was too drunk to remember the full events of the evening.
Police are studying grainy CCTV footage of an African woman and the Korean businessman entering a hotel in the capital late last year, then her leaving some time afterwards.
The Korean was carrying the cash in a parcel, but a legal source close to the case said that the investigation was floundering due to the poor quality of the CCTV footage – and his lack of memory of what happened that night.
“He accepts that he was with the woman but doesn’t know if he met her or if she followed him,” the source said. “Also, the CCTV camera was too far away, so police say it’s difficult to identify her.
The married businessman admitted to cops he was very drunk at the time and only has a vague recollection of being in the hotel with her.
The businessman had been entrusted with the cash by a major corporation – which was setting up a branch in Abu Dhabi and needed the cash to make payments to staff and suppliers.
The man has not been sacked from his job. His company is helping police in the hunt.

News: Instagram Warns RIHANNA: Latest Nude Pics Get Her In Trouble

Evidently very proud of her latest editorial, Rihanna shared lots of photos from a shoot with Lui, a French fashion magazine, yesterday with her fans across social media. She's naked in just about all the shots, and baring her pierced nipples for Lui's cover shot — Fashion Copious notes it's imagery inspired by a 1972 issue of the magazine, featuring German actress/porn star Karin Schubert.
This was just too much for the folks at Instagram, who removed RiRi's pictures less than an hour after she uploaded them. Reports say they sent her a pissy/prudish email also, making it clear that she'd over-shared. They also said she'd lose her account if she continued to share nudes. So she posted all the photos on Twitter instead — where they're tagged as "sensitive material," but haven't (yet) been taken down.
